Yoga & Herbs for Deep Rest

This workshop held by Maddy Taylor, Medical Herbalist, and Davide Penazzi, Restorative Yoga Teacher, will leave you feeling rested and restored.

Do you struggle with your sleep? Do you find it difficult to switch off at night or wake up in the middle of the night with circling thoughts? Do you have insomnia or do you feel that your nervous system is frazzled? Are you always on the go and feel tired and wired? If so, this workshop is for you! Combining yoga and herbal medicine, this workshop gives you the tools to introduce into everyday life to help you feel calm, relaxed and ultimately helping your nervous system back to a place of balance.

The first part of the workshop will be held by Maddy Taylor, Medical Herbalist. First, you will get to know a mystery herb via your senses as you are guided through a ‘tea meditation’. This will be followed by information on medicinal herbs that can help you sleep including their properties, character, action and how best to use them. Using this knowledge, you will then mix your very own sleep tea to take home and use when you feel you need it.

During the second part of the workshop, you will take deep rest in a restorative yoga session with Davide Penazzi, Yoga Teacher, to reset your nervous system and release accumulated stress. Restorative yoga differs from most other styles of yoga in that it acts mostly on the nervous system, using props to support poses where the focus shifts to the breathing and to an inner observation. Forget the sweat and effort, the magic will happen with a quietness and comfort that rarely we allow ourselves to experience in our life.

~ Information on some key herbs to aid sleep
~ Tea meditation
~ Tasting of some herbs commonly used to aid sleep, in tea and tincture form
~ Mixing your own medicinal herbal sleep tea to take away
~ Restorative yoga leaving you feeling deeply rested
